Selby - John Newton

John Newton Selby, who has been in poor health for some months died at the home of his son, Harry, on East Howard street about noon on Saturday. Death resulted from heart trouble. Funeral services on Monday afternoon were conducted at the Presbyterian Church by Rev. John McGuinness. Burial at Maple Ridge. Mr. Selby was born at Rockbridge Baths, VA., Dec. 9, 1860. He was united in marriage with Miss Anna Lam in 1882. To them were born two children: Mary Selby who died in infancy, and Harry Selby who survives him. He came to Indiana in 1909. For many years he has been a trusted employee of Schlosser Bros., of Frankfort. Besides Mr. and Mrs. Harry Selby and children: Mary, John, Ralph and Harry Junior, he is survived by one brother and three sisters, as well as several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He united with the New Monmouth Presbyterian Church in early life, afterwards moving his membership to the Waveland Church. He was a member of the Waveland Lodge No. 217, I.O.O.F.. Those present from a distance at the funeral were: Mrs. Victoria Jarvis, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shewey, and daughter, Wanetah; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Shewey, and Willie Shewey, all of Mace; Frank Shewey and Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Jarvis and son, of New Ross; and Mr. and Mrs. Flack of Indianapolis. - typed by kbz
