Ryker - Charles Robert

DARLINGTON – Charles Robert Ryker, 54, owner and operator of Ryker’s Plumbing, Heating and Electric Service, died in Culver Hospital Tuesday afternoon shortly after being stricken ill in Crawfordsville. He was born March 18, 1915, in Montgomery County, the son of Albert Edward and Goldwyn Ann Lyons Ryker. He married Frances E. Loveless Nov. 7, 1935, in Colfax and started housekeeping on a farm northwest of Darlington. The couple had lived in Darlington since 1945. He was a member of the Congregational Christian Church of Darlington, the American Legion, Darlington Merchants Association and was a veteran of World War II. Survivors in addition to the wife are four sons, Adam Edward and Max L. of Darlington, James Robert, U.S. Navy, stationed in Jacksonville, Fla., and Gary at home; one daughter, Mrs. Harold Lowe of Darlington; three sisters, Mrs. Roberta Fox and Mrs. Ronald Madison of Indianapolis and Mrs. Maurice Reynolds of Zionsville; an uncle, Jesse Lyons of Pekin, Ill., and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by the parents and two sisters. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday in the Bright Funeral Home at Darlington with Rev. James R. Ebersole officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery at Darlington. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday. – jlr
