THORNTOWN – Mrs. Fern Russell, 76, died unexpectedly at 8 a.m. Sunday at her home here. Mrs. Russell had lived in or near Thorntown since 1919. Prior to that she lived in Darlington. She was a member of the Christian Church here, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Double Six Bridge Club. She had worked for Drummond Cleaners here several years. A native of Montgomery County, she was born April, 24, 1891, a daughter of Robert M. and Katherine McGuire Little. She married George Russell in Darlington March 3, 1909. Surviving are two sons, William C. of Lebanon and Lewis H. of near Pike’s Crossing; two brothers, Olin of Oaklandon, Ind., and Allen Little of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 9, 1947, three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Russell and Hitch Funeral Home here with Rev. David Dawson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o’clock this evening. – jlr
