Rudolph - Elsie Smith

COVINGTON – Mrs. Elsie E. Rudolph, age 70, of Covington Rt. 2, a life resident of this community, died at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill., where she had been a patient five days. A daughter of Thomas and Mary E. Forbes Smith, she was born Jan. 21, 1898 in Vermillion County. She was married on Feb. 16, 1921 to Frank A. Rudolph, who survives. She was a charter member of the Christian Union Church and a member of Covington Barricks 1995, World War veterans. Surviving, in addition to the husband, are two daughters, Mrs. Mary Law of Fairland and Mrs. Evelyn Thomoson of Crawfordsville; one sister, Mrs. Zola Crouse of Waynetown, and nine grandchildren. A son and daughter preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Christian Union Church, where the body lay in state one hour. The Rev. Grover Williams officiated and burial was in Atherton Cemetery, near Danville, Ill. -– jlr
