LINDEN -- Robert F. Royer, 65, a Linden businessman, died at 2 a.m. Sunday in St. Elizabeth Hospital where he had been a patient since April 14. He had been ill since December. He was born in Linden Nov. 7, 1907 to John M. Royer and Nellie Shipman Royer. He was married to Evelyn Douglas on June 9, 1929. Mr. Royer was the owner of the Square Corner Hardware for 32 years. He was a member of the Linden United Methodist Church, a 25-year member and past master of Linden Masonic Lodge 697, 25-year member and past patron of Oriental Chapter of OES 244 and a member of the Linden Businessmen. He served as fire chief for a number of years and was postmaster at one time. Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Tyler (Beverly) Nannet of New Richmond; two grandsons, Timothy and Bryan; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Dunbar of Indianapolis and Mrs. Inez Scott of Reynolds; a brother, Fred Royer, of Crawfordsville, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Helms Funeral Home at Linden with the Rev. Broten Martin and the Rev. Lucian Robinson officiating. Masonic graveside services will be held in Linden Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today. The family requests that memorials be in the form of contributions to cancer research.
