Ross - Charles E.

The public will remember Charles E. Ross, the smooth-faced blind man, who sold music on the street an dplayed a French harp during fair week for he presented such a pleasant appearance that the nickles and dimes came his way. On the evening of September 10th he went to Indianapolis and that night he was picked up mangled and dying on the railroad track in North Indianapolis. He said that he had been struck down and robbed and then cast on the railroad track that the crime might be hidden. When he came to Crawfordsville he was short of money and Chas. Robinson, the American Express agent, donated the charge on the printed matter that he sold on the street. On Saturday Mr. Robinson received a letter from St. Omer, Ind, from Ross' father asking what he knew about the blind man and if he had any large sum of money to his knowledge. The true story of the murder of poor Ross will perhaps never be known. :( kbz
