Frank C. Rooney, aged 17 years was drowned Sun. about 11 o'clock in Sperry's dam. He went in bathing with several others boys, and getting beyond his depth was carried under. He lived with his parents near Linden and had come to the city Sun. morning to be confirmed into the Catholic Church. Ol Gill rescued the body from the water and it was removed to Lofland & Scott's undertaking establishment and thence to the residence of his brother-in-law, Terrence Connor, from where the funeral took place Monday afternoon, Father Dinnen officiating.
