Edward F. Roembke, 70, former Hillsboro business man and farmer who had been residing in Speedway City for the last several years died Saturday morning in the St. Francis Hospital at Beech Grove where he had been a surgical patient for one week. His death was unexpected. He operated a grocery store in Hillsboro for a number of years, also one in Indianapolis and Crawfordsville. He was employed at the Link Belt Co in Indianapolis before retiring. He was a member of Hillsboro Methodist Church and a charter member of the Come-Join-Us class. He was also a member of a Masonic Lodge and Golden Age Club of Indianapolis. Born Feb 3, 1893 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Roembke. He was married to the former Miss Catherine Williams of Hillsboro on Aug 23, 1915 who survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Winifred Briggs of Speedway City; a son James E. Romebke of McLean, Virginia; two brothers, William of Florida; Harry of Indianapolis; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Click, Mrs. Minnie Stevens and Miss Mary Roembke all of Indianapolis; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Conkle Funeral Home in Speedway City at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Ray Montgomery officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens, Indianapolis. Pallbearers from Hillsboro were: Jim Hershberger, Marion Glascock, Charles Shade, Donald Johns, Raymond Eitnier, John Crowder, Paul Harshbarger and Robert Hershberger of Speedway City. - kbz
