John C. Roberts, 73, a former Crawfordsville minister, died Tuesday in Ball Hospital in Muncie after an extended illness. He had served as minister of the Crawfordsville EUB Church, now Christ’s United Methodist. Born in Indianapolis, he was graduated from Manual High School and Indiana Central College. He served in World War I and was ordained in the Church of the United Brethren of Christ in 1924. He served as minister in several churches in the state. Among cities he served besides Crawfordsville were Modoc, Muncie, Indianapolis, Dunkirk and New Castle. He retired from the ministry in 1963 and returned to Muncie where he resided with his wife, Lura, at 701 Rex St. He was a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church in Muncie, Muncie Lodge of Masons, No. 433, and Delaware Post No. 19 of the American Legion. Survivors include the widow, two sisters and three brothers. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Riverside United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Thomas and Rev. Willard Brown officiating, burial will be in the Elm Ridge Cemetery in Muncie. Friends may call at the Meeks Mortuary until noon Thursday or at the church one hour prior to the services. – jlr
