Roberts - Charley
Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal Friday, 26 February 1897
The death of Charley Roberts will refresh in the minds of the people of this vicinity. The terrible tragedy which occurred here some fifteen years ago, with which he is supposed to be closely connected. It will be remembered that Roberts at that time was the leader of the notorious Sullivan gang which cast many a dark shadow on the good name of Fountain and Parke Counties. By the arrest and conviction of both Roberts and Sullivan disconnected them with the rest of the gang and it seems that ever since there has been two fractions and it is evidently believed that the terrible tragedy which hangs in such a cloud of mystery over the people of Parke and Fountain Counties can be traced as the work of one faction of this terrible gang.
