Orris W. "Pete" Rivers, 70, Madison died at 7:59 p.m. Monday in Norton Hospital, Louisville, Ky. Mr. Rivers was a photographer for Jefferson Proving Ground for 30 years until retiring in 1987, and he was a commercial pilot. He was a 1949 graduate of Waveland HS and military veteran. Mr. Rivers was a member of Crawfordsville Baptist Church, a life member of the Jefferson County Conservation Goodwill Club and former member of American Legion Jefferson Post 9. He was born Feb 12, 1929 at Waveland, to Robert "Roy" and Ruth Dora McCormick Rivers. He married France E. Caldwell on November 3, 1948. She survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters, Gwen Henderson, North Vernon; Jackie Humphrey, Madison and Rhonda Freese, Seymour; two brothers, Robert Max, Lake Holiday and Charles, Waveland; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday in Morgan-Webster-Nay funeral Home, 325 Demaree Drive Madison with Dr .Clyde T. Angel officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Madison, with military rites conducted by American Legion Jefferson Post 9. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
