Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal, August 21, 1907
The funeral of Thornton Ritter, who died Wednesday afternoon, will occur from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Scaggs, 906 east College street on Friday afternoon at two o'clock.  Besides the daughter, he leaves a son, [brother] Isaac Ritter of Waveland.  His wife died ten years ago.  The deceased fell on the pavement near the courthouse two weeks ago and has grown worse ever since.  He was for years engaged in working about saw mills in this city and was a hard working respectable citizen.  He was an old soldier, having belonged to Company B of the 158th Indiana regiment.  He was a member of McPherson Post No. 7 G.A.R., of this city and this organization will have charge of the service at the cemetery. – Kim H
