A Young lady Commits Suicide Miss Elizabeth Ann Riston, a young lady living in Cole Creek township in this county, committed suicide on last Wednesday night, by taking strychnine. It was the old story, unrequited love and betrayal. The gay deceiver is said to be a young man by the name of Jackson Poe. He was arrested on Thursday and lodged in the city jail. The victim of the arts and wiles of the betrayer is represented as being a beautiful and accomplished lady, who, realizing her condition, with the painful agonizing grief that virtue always feels when hurled from its high estate, became maddened and sought death as a refuge. Like many of Eve's family, it was "One more unfortunate, Weary of breathe, Rashly importunate, Gone to her death." - Kim H
