Homer G. Riester, 82, of Mellott, died Tuesday (April 12, 1971) at Lake View Memorial Hospital. He had been stricken with a heart seizure at his home Monday and had been in failing health for several months. Born Jan. 8, 1889, in Mellott, he had resided in Mellott all of his life. He was the son of John Franklin and Martha Della Carpenter Riester. His mother died when he was three-years-old and he was reared in the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Selestine Riester, in Mellott. He was married Feb. 28, 1909, in Mellott to Hazel L. Rice. He attended local schools and Central Business College and School of Auctioneering in Indianapolis. Mr. Riester was a 65-year member of the United Church of Christ and a member of the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge. He was a retired farmer and auctioneer. Survivors include his widow and a daughter, Mrs. Lowell (Marjorie) Linville. She and her husband reside with her mother. Other survivors include three step nephews and a step niece. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown, with the Rev. George Phelps officiating. Burial will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery at Hillsboro.   --waw
