Private graveside rites were conducted by Rev. Robert C. Boyd for Hazel L. Riester at 10:00 a. m. Wednesday, September 6, 1978, in Rose Hill Cemetery at Hillsboro. Mrs. Riester passed away at 9:05 a. m. Tuesday, September 5, 1978, in Home Hospital, Lafayette, where she had been a patient four days. She was born February 10, 1891, south of Newtown, Indiana, the daughter of James and Florence Olivia Keyt Rice and moved south of Mellott when she was five years old. She attended Mellott Schools and was a member of Mellott United Church of Christ. On February 28, 1909, she was united in marriage with Homer G. Riester by Rev. H. L. Bailey at the parsonage of the then Mellott Christian Church. Mr. Riester passed away April 13, 1971. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Lowell Linville, who resided in the home with her, and one sister, Waneta Rice of Hillsboro. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and three brothers. Arrangements were in charge of Thomas Funeral Home, at Waynetown, Indiana.
