Linden Jan 26 -- Mrs. Martha A. RICKEY, 51 died at her home here this morning at 11:35 o'clock after a lingering illness since August of cancer of the liver. In November, her condition became so critical that she was taken to Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis where she was operated on for gall stones. She was removed to her home in a few weeks and the latter part of December was taken to St. Elizabeth's hospital, Lafayette where she underwent a second operation. She was taken to her home here the first of January and her condition did not improve despite the desperate efforts made to save her. Mrs. Rickey was the wife of Joseph Rickey and was one of the best known and best liked women living at this place. She was a member of the Christian Church and was an active member of the Eastern Star and the Royal Neighbors. She was loved as a woman of a kindly disposition. She is survived by two sons, Everet and Granville and her husband; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Elston of ND; Mrs. James Largent of Michigan and a brother James McCall living in Virginia. The funeral will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the Christian Church, conducted by Rev EA House, pastor. Interment in Linden Cemetery. - typed by kbz
