Mrs. Nancy Baldwin Rice, wife of John Rice, Sr. passed quietly away at 3:30 o’clock yesterday afternoon at the family residence on South Washington Street. She had been very low for several days and the end, which was hastened by a general braking down of her system and due to her advanced years, was by no means unexpected. The deceased was born in Ohio 75 years ago and in 1849 was married to John Rice. Mr. Rice engaged in business successively at Corydon, New Albany and Bloomington and in 1870 returned to Crawfordsville where he and his beloved wife have since resided honored and respected by all. Mrs. Rice was a consistent Christian woman and member of the Presbyterian Church. She was the mother of five children. The funeral will occur at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Rev. Rj Cunningham will officiate and the Center Church choir will assist in the services. Interment at Masonic Cemetery – kbz

Mrs. Nancy Baldwin Rice, wife of John Rice, Sr. died Monday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at her home on South Washington Street. The funeral occurred Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock conducted by Dr. RJ Cunningham.  The Center Church choir rendered music. Interment at the Masonic Cemetery.  Mrs. Rice was 77 years old and has been a resident of this city since 1870, coming here from Corydon with her husband to whom she was married in 1849. She was a consistent Christian lady and member of Center Presbyterian Church. Her life was a beautiful one and her death is generally lamented. - kz
