Mellott - Miss Mary Evelyn Rice, 66, of Mellott, died Thursday evening in her home. She was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church and missionary society and a 1929 graduate of Mellott HS. She had helped maintain the family farm near Mellott. She was born near Mellott on July 1, 1911 a daughter of Clarence and Clara Wade Rice. Surviving are four brothers, Reed and James of Rt 1, Wingate; Herman H. "Fuzzy" of Rt 3, Veedersburg and Ralph E of Scotts Bluff, Neb. She was preceded in death by a sister. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Crumley-Williams Funeral Home at Hillsboro with Rev. David Fuller and Vernon Shaw officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday. --kbz
