Waynetown -- Joe Rice, 85, of Waynetown, died at 3:35 a.m. today (April 18, 1975) at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. He had been a patient since Monday. On July 15, 1914, he married Edith E. Canine of Waveland, she preceded him in death. Mr. Rice was the retied owner and operator of the Rice Hardware Store at Waynetown. He was a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, a 50-year member of the Waynetown Masonic Lodge 302 and a member of the Waynetown Merchants Association. Survivors include a son, Dr. Charles N. Rice of Philadelphia, Pa., a grandson, Andrew Rice of Portland, Ore.; two granddaughters, Mrs. Ginny Boner of Nashville and Mrs. Cecelia Christner of Palo Alto, Calif.; four great grandchildren and 11 nieces and nephews. Arrangements are pending at the Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown.

Waynetown, Ind. (CNS) -- Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Thomas Funeral Home for Joe Rice, 85, of Waynetown, who died Friday ( April 18, 1975) at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. The Rev. Stephen Malone will officiate and burial will be in the Old Union Cemetery north of Waveland. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
