Fred Humphries RICE, 47 died at his home in Waveland Saturday morning after an illness of 3 months, during which he submitted to an operation for a brain tumor. He was b. May 2, 1898 in Waveland, the son of John H and Emma Rice, and was married to Edith V. CANINE on Nov 22, 1918. Mr. Rice was a grain dealer in Waveland for 30 years. He was a member of the Waveland Masonic Lodge & Eastern Star. Survivors are his widow, Edith; his mother, Mrs. Waneta Metzler of Indianapolis; 3 half brothers, Harry ?? Galey of Indianapolis; Jap Rice of Marshall and Guy Rice of Decatur Illinois and a half sister, Mrs. Nettie English of Clinton, ill. A son, Philip died in infancy. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 from the Christian Church with the pastor in charge of the services with Rev. HH Elmore delivering the message.
