Newtown July 3 - Mrs. Flossie Helms Rice, 59, lifelong resident of this community died at Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville shortly after midnight Thursday morning. Mrs. Rice had been in failing health 2 years and had been in Culver Hospital the past 4 months. Previous to that, she had been confined in two hospitals at Lafayette. Born Sept 6, 1887 on a farm near Newtown she was the daughter of Frank & Minnie Helms. She was married to Fred Rice with whom she lived on a farm southwest of here. Mrs. Rice was a member of the Christian Union church. Survivors include the husband; two sisters, Mrs. Zeltha McCauley of Hillsboro and Mrs. Fern Brown of Attica and two brothers, Zane and Dean Helms, both of Attica. Tentative time for the funeral had been set for Sunday afternoon. -- kbz
