Elmer J. RICE, 71, died suddenly Thurs of last week at his home 4 miles west of New Market following a heart attack. He was born in Montgomery County Sept 11, 1886, the son of Nelson and Frances Easley Rice. He was married to Goldie Hardy who died in 1916, later married to Hattie Pate [correction -- Kate or Katie Belle (Tate) Boraker], who survives. He was a member of the New Market Baptist Church and Modern Woodmen Lodge. He was a director in the Farmers State Bank at New Market. Survivors include the wife; five daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Reddish of Russellville; Mrs. Elizabeth Kelly of Anderson; Mrs. Sarah Jane Wilbur of Alamo; Mrs. Louise Bell of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Wilma Hart of Waveland; 7 sons, Joe of Crawfordsville; Robert of Linden; David of Lafayette and Arthur, Alfred, Dan and Benjamin of New Market; a stepson, Lanford Boraker [correction - Sanford G. Boraker] of Crawfordsville and brother, Joe of Waynetown. Funeral services were held at Noble Reeves Funeral Home, New Market Sunday with burial in Indian Creek Cemetery kbz
