Waynetown, Ind. (CNS) — Mrs. Edith C. Rice, Waynetown, died yesterday (Aug. 4, 1967) at 4:20 p.m. at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville where she had been a patient one day. She had been ill four years and seriously six months. Born Nov. 4, 1890, near Waveland in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of Charles A. and Susan Deere Canine. She was married July 15, 1914, to J. E. Rice, who survives. She was a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church where she was teacher of the Golden Rule Class for 27 years. She was a member of the Missionary Society, Ladies Aid and Pi Mu Research Club. She had been worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 435 at Waynetown. She attended Waveland School and graduated from Crawfordsville High. She had resided in Indianapolis and Connorsville prior to moving to Waynetown 30 years ago. Other survivors include a son, Dr. Charles N. Rice of Bethesda, Md.; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown with the Rev. Myron Hinton officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery near Waveland. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
