Miss Claral RICE 78, died in Waveland at 3 p.m. Saturday. She had been employed 35 years at Durham Home. She was a member of and active in the work of the 1st Baptist Churc h. Miss Rice was a native of Fountain County born near Newtown, November 6, 1886 to Isaac and Florence Parent Rice. She was a 1906 graduate of Waveland HS. Survivors include a niece, Waneta Wiatt, and a nephew David Wiatt of Waveland at whose home she was when she died and 3 oth er nephews, Ivan Slavens; Leo Wiatt and Isaac Wiatt. Three sisters and a brother preceded her in death. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Milo Riggs officiating at Machledt and Servies Funeral Home. Burial in Freedom Cemetery.   -- kbz

Miss Claral Rice, 78, formerly of this city, died in Waveland at 3 p.m. Saturday. She had been employed 35 years at the Durham Home, 215 W. Main St. She was a member of and active in the work of the First Baptist Church. Miss Rice was a native of Fountain County, born near Newtown Nov. 6, 1886 to Isaac and Florence Parent Rice. She was a 1906 graduate of Waveland High School. Survivors include a niece, Waneta Wiatt, and nephew, David Wiatt, of Waveland, at whose home she died, and three other nephews, Ivan Slavens of New Market, Leo Wiatt of Parkersburg and Isaac Wiatt of Russellville. Three sisters and a brother preceded her in death. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday at the Machledt and Servies Funeral Home in Waveland, where funeral services are announced for 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Milo Riggs officiating.
