Covington, Oct 23 - Further particulars regarding the death of C. Richard Rice of the marine corps have been received by his sister, Mrs. Virginia Rice Boord of this city. According to a letter just received he died at a base hospital in France on October 4 of pneumonia and his body is interred in the military cemetery at Brest, France. He enlisted in the marine corps as a musician in an overseas band of 50 pieces and sailed for France early in September and it is believed that he contracted the disease while on the way over. In Atlanta, GA where young Rice lived after leaving Covington he was regarded as one of the most progressive advertising men of that city, and a craftsman who has worked hard to maintain a high standard of ethical values for his calling. He was active in other details of life in Atlanta as well, being Scoutmaster of Troop 10, Boy Scouts and a member of the band of Yaarab Temple. He is survived by his mother, three sisters and three brothers, two of the latter being in the service somewhere in France. - kbz
