Mrs. Rice united with the Baptist Church at Newtown Feb 1, 1870 and was baptized February 27 of the same year by Elder Bowles who was at that time in charge of the Newtown Baptist Church and she remained a faithful and consistent memberu p to the hour of her death. For a number of years the life of Mrs. Rice had been one of affliction and although the best medical talent of the sate was procured for her, it proved to no avail. During all these long years she bore her affliction bravely and faced death calmly, without a fear or doubt as to her future and happy in the thought that she would soon be with her sainted mother and a idolized daughter, Bertie who had preceded her. Besides the husband who had been her stay and support for over 30 years, Mrs. Rice leaves 3 children, father, two brothers and host of friends to mourn her demise. She will be sadly missed by the entire community being born in the vicinity of Newtown where she was content to pass her days. Mrs. Rice was 49 years 3 months 13 days. - kbz
