Harold Edwin
Rice of Mellott, age 57, died Sunday morning, December 5, in St. Elizabeth
Hospital at Lafayette. He was born at Mellott, February 21, 1925, the son of
James W. and Ruth McAlister Rice. September 2, 1947, he married Margaret
Stucker, who survives. A veteran of World War II, he was a 1943 graduate of
Richland Township High School and was a graduate of Lafayette Business College.
Rice was manager
of the branch and a vice president of the First National Bank of
Crawfordsville. He was a member of Mellott United Church of Christ, Mellott
Volunteer Fire department, Quigley-Palin Post American Legion, Indiana Society
of Agri Bankers, Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, American Bankers
Association and Bank Administration Institute.
Also surviving
are a daughter, Becky L. McDaniel of stone Mountain, Georgia; two sons, Greg
and Gary, both of Covington; a sister, Margaret Ann Martin of Indianapolis; two
brothers, Richard of Lafayette and Lowell of Newtown; an aunt, Edith Strong of
Logansport; and a grandson.
The body was
taken from Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown to the Mellott United Church of
Christ for funeral services Wednesday afternoon with Rev. John Fleming
officiating. Burial was in Waynetown Cemetery. - s
