– Mrs. Hannah C. RHOTEN ill with pneumonia at the home near Ferndale was brought here on Friday evening to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bennie Johnson so that she might have better care. Her condition was so serious that she died a few minutes after reaching here. Funeral services on Sunday afternoon at the Beech Grove Church near Ferndale were in charge of Rev. Mr. McKeehan. The casket was carried by Mart Priest; Delos Call; Bert, Lige, Lawrence and Arthur Garrett. The flowers were carried by Mildred Overpeck; Ruby McCalley; Gladis Englemeyer; Frances Winders; Shirley Garret; Ruth Johnson and Phillips Martin. Mrs. Rhoten was born in Parke County March 26, 1868 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elijah White. She married Samuel Rhoten now dead Jan 12, 1989 (sic). She was a member of the ME Church. Surviving besides the daughter at whose home she died are four daughters, Mrs. Jesse Maness of Dowagiac, MI; Mrs. Eugene FULFORD, LaPorte and Mrs. Archie Martin and Mrs. Jesse Craig, both of Rockville; 3 sons, James Rhoten, Dowagiac; Oscar Rhoten, LaPorte and Elijah Rhoten., East Chicago; one sister; one brother, 27 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews… kbz
