ALAMO – Alfred Jerry Rhoda, 67, former resident of Alamo, died at 3:30 a.m. Monday at Home Hospital, Lafayette. Mr. Rhoda had been in failing health for the last six years and was hospitalized a week ago. He is survived by a son, Alfred Jerry Rhoda Jr. of Alamo. Mr. Rhoda, a retired construction worker, moved to Lafayette in 1966. He had been a resident of the Alamo community for over 30 years. The deceased was a member of the Hod Carriers and Laborers Union, Local 274, and attended the Kossuth Street Baptist Church. Born in Lafayette on April 22, 1902, he was the son of Jerry and Jenny Boelkins Rhoda. He was married on Oct. 3, 1931, to Leva Cordell Thomas who survives. Other survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Joe Dargis, Rt. 1, Battle Ground, Mrs. Morice Loy, Mrs. Anna Tubbs and Mrs. Davey Catterling, all of Lafayette, and Mrs. Guy Poore of Monticello; a granddaughter whom the couple reared, Pamela Sue Dargis, 23 other grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, and a half brother, John Mollenkopf, of Rt. 2, Lafayette. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Landis-Loy Funeral Home. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday, and burial will be in Isley Cemetery. – jlr
