Word was received here Monday of the death at Rannels, Cal, Mrs. Edwin Rhoads, Feb. 20. She accompanied her daughter, Mrs. TA Rice to that place last fall. Mrs. Elizabeth Bennett Rhoads, 84 years old, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Rice, in Rannels, Calif Feb 20, 1918. The greater part of Mrs. Rhoads' life was spent at her home in Waveland, until last fall, when she went to California to live with her daughter. Mrs. Rhoads was born in London, England and reared to young womanhood at Carrollton, Ky. She was married to HE Rhoads in 1860. She is survived by two children, Mr. Harry Rhoads of Terre Haute and Mrs. Thomas Rice; three sisters, Mrs. Jerome Allen of Greencastle; Mrs. Albert Allen of Lawrenceville, Kan and Mrs. EH Patton of Vincennes, and numerous grandchildren. - kbz

Elizabeth Bennet Rhoads was born in London, England, in 1834, and died in Rannells, California, Feb 20, 1918. She came to this country when she was four years old, and afterward came to Waveland, as a teacher. She was married to Henry Edwin Rhoads in 1860. She lived in Waveland all the rest of her life, until she went to California lat November 1917. She leaves two children: Mrs. TA Rice of Rannells, and Harry B. Rhoads of Terre Haute; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren and three sisters. She was 83 years old when she died. She was always active in Church work, a teacher in the Sunday School and very fond of working among young people. Hers was a wonderful christian life. She was a woman of wide culture, active in the Church, club and civic life of the town. She is greatly missed by a large circle of friends. Many young people felt the touch of her devoted Christian life, and attributed their inspiration to better living to her influence.
