Death came to John W. Remley, 76, at 3:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at his home in the Wesley Community four miles east of Waynetown. Mr. Remley, banker and former joint representative from the Montgomery-Putnam County district, had been in failing health for five years and seriously ill the last two weeks.
Mr. Remley was born December 8, 1867, near where he died, a son of William and Susan Stout Remley. He was married December 23, 1888 to Etta Quick, who survives. He was representative to the state legislature as a Republican in 1931 and 1932. He was a member of the Wesley Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge No 302, Order of Eastern Star, No 435, and Knights of Pythias Lodge. For many years he was vice president of the Waynetown State Bank, until illness forced his retirement this year.
Surviving in addition to the widow are a daughter, Miss Dorothy Remley, a member of the faculty at the MacMurray College at Jacksvillville, Ill; a son, Vern of Waynetown; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Frank of Crawfordsville, Clay of Waynetown and one sister, Mrs. Grace Tinkham of Hammond.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoonat the Wesley Methodsit Church with the Rev. Guy Tremaine assisted by the Rev. HP Ivey of Crawfordsville officiating. Burial was made in the cemetery adjoining the church - transcribed by kbz
