John E. Remley, 85, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Ben Hur Home after a long illness. A son of James C. and Mary Byrd Remley, he was born near Darlington Aug. 22, 1880. He was married in that community Jan. 16, 1907 to Helen Lynch, who survives. Mr. Remley was a member of the First Methodist Church here and the Masonic Lodge at Darlington. He was a graduate of Darlington High School. He farmed most of his life. In 1941 Mr. and Mrs. Remley moved to Crawfordsville and became hosts at Lane Place, one of the city's historic shrines. Surviving besides Mrs. Remley are two sons, James of Racine, Wis., and John of Indianapolis; a daughter, Miss Roxie Remley of Statesboro, Ga., and three grandchildren. Funeral services are at 11 a. m. Monday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
