Orris C. Reiter, prominent farmer and business man of Milligan, suffered a fatal heart attack and passed on at his home (Milligan) at 5:00 Monday morning. Next month he would have been 54. For years, Mr. Reiter has been successful in business and farming in and around the Waveland area, also he took an active part in all civic and community affairs. Born in Douglas county, Illinois Sept 5, 1902 he was the son of Elmer Grant and Ida Asher Reiter and was married in Indianapolis in 1927 to Olive Young. He was an active member of the Waveland Methodist Church, a past master of Waveland Lodge 300 F&AM a member of the Scottish Rite, Murat Temple of Shrine at Indianapolis and of Elks Lodge 482 Crawfordsville. He was a director of the Waveland State Bank and member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau. Mr. Reiter was a supporter of the Boys Town in Nebraska and a member of various farm and business organizations. A 1921 graduate of Waveland HS, he was captain of the football team his Senior Year. Mr. Reiter had resided in Milligan for the past 35 years except for a period of 3 years when he operated the Reiter Hardware & John Deere firm, Ladoga. Surviving, besides the wife, are two sons, Jimmie of Waveland and Richard in the Army Corps of Engineers, stationed in France; the mother, Mrs. Ida Reiter of Waveland and a sister, Mrs. Orlena Rush of Roseville, Ill and four grandchildren. Funeral services are to be held in Waveland Methodist church at 2:00 this afternoon, in charge of Rev. CN McBrayer. Members of Waveland Masonic Lodge will conduct graveside services in the Waveland Cemetery. - kbz
