Reiter - Matilda Neier

Matilda Neier was born in Schuylkill County, PA, April 6, 1834 and died Nov 15, 1914 being 80 years, 7 months and 9 days old. She was married in 1853 to Henry G. Reiter, who still survives her, being in his 88th year. They lived in PA four years and then moved to Owen County this state, where they resided until 10 years ago, when on account of age and failing health, the home was broken up and they have since lived with their children. To this union of more than 60 years was born six children, five sons and one daughter. Theirs was an unbroken family until five years ago when one son, Cyrus H. preceded the mother to the Great Beyond. The daughter, Josephine A. Townsend of Poland, Ind, W.D. Reiter of Indianapolis, Elmer and William of Camargo, Ill and C.M. of this place, with one brother and one sister and a number of grandchildren with the aged husband are left to wait the summons of Him, who doeth all things well. Mrs. Reiter, more than 50 years ago became a member of the Newlight Church, and lived a faithful Christian life. Often during her sickness, which was long and severe, she made expressions of her faith in Christ and longed and prayed to go. Funeral services were conducted at the home at one on Tuesday afternoon by Rev. F.B. Solin. Interment in the Russellville Cemetery. - kbz
