Elmore Grant Reiter, one of the community's most highly respected men, succumbed at his home west of Milligan Saturday night at 8:15 o'clock. Death was caused from a heart ailment. For several weeks Mr. Reiter was critically ill at the home of his son Orris Reiter, however, he recovered somewhat and was able to return to his home a few days prior to his death. Mr. Reiter was born Dec 22, 1871 at Poland Indiana the son of Henry and Matilda Reiter. He was married to Ida Florence Asher on March 27, 1895 in Owen County. For several years Mr. Reiter was a prominent farmer in the MIlligan Community. In early manhood Mr. Reiter became affiliated with the Church and in 1896 he was converted. He lived a staunch Christian life and was a member of the Waveland Methodist Church where he served as trustee for some time. He also belonged to the IOOF [Independent Order of Odd Fellows] order. Mr. Reiter was loved by all his friends and was a good husband, father and neighbor. The deceased is survived by the widow; two children, Mrs. John Rush and Orris Reiter; a foster daughter, Marie Parrish Weaver and two grandsons, Jimmy and Richard Reiter, two daughters died in infancy. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist Church here with Rev. CN McBrayer in charger interment in Russellville Cemetery.
