Mrs. Susan J. Reese was born in this city on Feb. 19, 1857, and died April 17, 1901, at 8:15 p. m., of apoplexy. She was married to John Reese June 25, 1875. To them were born five children: Maude, Claude, Berte, Johnny, and Wallace who died in infancy: Claude will mourn his dear mother's sad death alone in the Philippines, having enlisted Sept. 25, 1899, as a volunteer in the 44th regiment for 21 months. His time will soon be out and his home coming was looked forward to anxiously and longingly by his dear mother. How sad his heart will be, no one will know only those who have suffered them. Mrs. Reese was a consistent member of the First Baptist church and will be mourned by many friends in church and out. The funeral services were held in the church Friday afternoon at half past two, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Runyan. Interment took place at Oak Hill. - thanks so much to Kim H for this obit
