Mrs. Katie Florence Reed, age 84, a resident of Veedersburg since early childhood, was found dead Saturday, May 21, of an apparent heart attack at her home. Her body was found by Mrs. Dorothy Reed, the wife of a grandson, lying on a davenport. Mrs. Reed had worked in her yard most of Friday and was last seen by a neighbor as she entered her home that evening. She was born in Darlington May 14, 1882, the daughter of George W. and Amanda Hamilton. She married Charles A. Reed Sept. 21, 1902, and he preceded her in death. A son, Milo, and a daughter, Zelma, also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Sterling Christian Church. Mrs. Reed is survived by: three daughters, Mrs. Mabel Olsen of Miami, Fla., Mrs. Alta Paxton of Danville, Ill., formerly of Covington, and Mrs. Mildred Heaton of Larned, Kan.; one son, Glenn of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Sterling Christian Church. The Rev. Alfred Dobbs and the Rev. Dennis Slaughter officiated. Burial, with the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home of Hillsboro in charge, was in Rockfield Cemetery, southeast of Veedersburg.
