Rankin -Ellen Thorne

– Mrs. Ellen D. RANKIN, widow of Joseph Rankin, died at a nursing home in Crawfordsville on Sunday morning. She had been in failing health the last year. She was born near Waveland May 24, 1866, the daughter of William and Sarepta Thorne. She married Joseph Rankin in December 1902. She was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church. She is survived by 7 cousins, Mrs. Sophie Carter of Spencer; Mrs. Harriet Buckle of Rapid City, MI; Mrs. Edward Myers and Mrs. Zura Monroe of RR 7, Crawfordsville; Mrs. Paul Welchel of Sarasota, FL; Mrs. Lora Gilkey of Greensburg and mrs. Robert Moore of Waveland; Ben Canine of Waveland; Robert Todd of Logansport; Lee Thorne of Warsaw and Glen Myers of RR 7, Crawfordsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, one a twin and one brother. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 2:00 o’clock from the Freedom Baptist Church with Rev. DeNeal officiating. kbz

Ellen is my 1st cousin 4x removed. Some members of the Thorn family used an "e" at the end and some did not. I believe Ellen spelled it Thorne. I visited with Curt Rivers yesterday. He is also a Clore cousin of mine and had this picture. I wanted to share with you because her obituary shows up on genweb site for Montgomery county.........Fred Smith
