Joseph D. RANKIN who has been in Culver Hospital several weeks, died on Wednesday morning, following a major operation a few days previously. Funeral services will be held at Freedom Church this Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. kbz

Funeral services for Joseph D. RANKIN who died on Wednesday of last week were held at Freedom Church in charge of Rev. John Caldwell after a brief service at the house on Friday afternoon. The pall bearers were Hubert Loudermill; Wilford Greve; Charles Campbell; Alonzo Deere; George Loman and Parke Spencer. The flowers were carried by Mrs. Eldo Bannon; Mrs. Glenn Myers; Mrs. Earl Bowman; Miss Esther Moore; Frances Moore; Mrs. Harry Machledt; Mrs. Goldie Meads; Mrs. Fred McNutt and Mrs. Fred Rice. A quarter with Mrs. Burrin at the piano Sang In the Garden and Beautful Isle of Somewhere. The services at the grave were in charge of Waveland Lodge F & AM with Leslie Frank as orator. Joseph D. Rankin was born near Robinson, Ill July 14, 1862 and died Sept 30, 1936. He was the son of Thomas and Ellen BEAM Rankin. He was united in marriage to Ellen D. THORNE Dec 17, 1902. No children were born to them. All their married life, Mr. and Mrs. Rankin have lived in this vicinity, most of the time living on their farm north of Waveland. Mr. Rankin was highly respected by all who knew him and his loss will be felt keenly by the community. Besides his wife, he leaves one sister, 5 nieces, and a host of friends and neighbors to mourn his loss. kbz
