Louise E. Rancourt of Thorntown passed away Tuesday night at Witham Hospital in Lebanon. She was 91. Mrs. Rancourt graduated from Tech High School and Butler University. She worked at Weir-Cook Airport, was a librarian at Eli Lilly and spent several years teaching fourth, fifth and sixth grade in Indianapolis public schools, retiring at school 96. She was a member of the Naomi fellowship, Retired Teacher's Association, University Women, Butler and Tech Alumni Associations, and the Montgomery County Historical Society. She attended Darlington Christian Church. She served her country in the U. S. Marines, from June 1943 to September 1944, stationed in the Mojave Desert, training pilots as a link trainer. Born May 24, 1920 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Clarence and Martha Dill Doty. She married a fellow Marine, Mitchel Henry Rancourt, in 1944. He passed away on April 13, 1979. Survivors include two sons, Richard (Marcia) Rancourt of South Bend and Mark (Lois) Rancourt of Thorntown, brother, Thomas (Pauline) Doty of Danville, Indiana, six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Maxwell, brother, John Doty, and two infant siblings, Benny and Mary Alice. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 AM in Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, with Pastor Ben Hitzfeld officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery North.
