Ramey - Rachel Hiatt

Rachel Hiatt was born in Randolph county, Ohio, November 7, 1821, moved with her family to Montgomery county, Ind. in the fall of 1824, settling on the farm known later on as the Middleton farm adjoining the Hutton farm, west of Garfield. On this farm her brother Silas Hiatt was born, who it is said was the first white child born in Montgomery county. She died at her home at the south edge of Darlington, February 24, 1906, aged 84 years, 3 months and 17 days. Married to John H. Ramey February 23, 1863, who departed this life November 9, 1873. To this union was born one son, John M. Ramey, born March 24, 1864, died February 9, 1878. She was again married to Asa Ditamore February 11, 1892. Mr. Ditamore dying September 19, 1895. Deceased was a life long member of the Friends church, a faithful member, a Christian lady and a good friend. - typed by kbz
