Ragle - Mary Jane Fruits

Mrs. Margaret Jane Ragle passed away at her home west of Sebastopol early this morning (Friday). The cause of death was paralysis. Mrs. Ragle was born in Montgomery County, Indiana on the 10th of October, 1838. She moved with her parents to Page County, Iowa when she was six years of age. In the spring of 1852 she crossed the plains and arrived late the following fall in El Dorado County where Placerville now stands. In the winter of 1852 she moved to Sebastopol and located about one more south of town. In 1854 she was married to George Jackson Ragle who died Dec 11, 1893. Mrs. Ragle has lived on her home place since her marriage in 1854. Mrs. Ragle leaves to survive her a sister, Mrs. JC Gentry of Berkeley, and one brother, John S. Fruits in Oregon. Also her adopted son, Alexander Ragle and one grandson, George J. Ragle. The funeral will be held on Sunday February 3, from the home at 2 p.m. Rev. B. Dent Naylor will officiate and the interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery. EF O’Leary has charge of the funeral arrangements. – kbz
