Parkersburg vicinity was shocked on Monday morning when it was learned that John Quinley, a prominent citizen, had dropped dead in his barn lot. He had gone to the barn about sunrise and in returning to the house fell prostrate on the ground where he expired in a few minutes. He commenced bleeding at the lungs and the flow was so exhaustive that he fell after taking but a few steps. The ground where he lay was covered with blood when the body was taken up and carried to the house. Mr. Quinley had been on the decline for more than a year and although he had often been troubled with hemorrhage of the lungs and heart failure yet his condition was not regarded as critical. Mr. Quinley was about 50 years of age and leaves a devoted wife and six children to mourn his sudden demise. He served with distinction in the late war and was a member of Cashow Post, GAR Of Parkersburg. The funeral occurred on Tuesday and the remains were taken to Ladoga for interment. - kjbz

John Quinley, of near Parkersburg, died Monday morning of hemorrhage of the lungs. His funeral was preached at his home. Interment was at Ladoga Cemetery. John was an old soldier; a good neighbor, a kind husband and father.- thanks
