Covington- Jerri J Purgason, 27, died at 1:18 p.m. Friday in Swedish Medical Center at Seattle, Wash. She had been a patient there since Jan. 16. Mrs. Purgason was a former resident of Richmond, VA., her husband was associated with Allied Chemicals. She was a member of Tri Kappa Sorority at Covington. A 1971 graduate of Covington High School, where she was a varsity cheerleader two years, she later was graduated from Porter Business College at Indianapolis. She worked with radio station WNAP while schooling in Indianapolis. Mrs. Purgason was admitted to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center at Seattle Nov. 12, 1980, for treatment. She was born Feb. 21, 1953, at Danville, Ill. She married Richard L. Purgason Aug. 19, 1972. He survives. Also surviving are her mother. Mrs. Kay “Barbara” Harrison of Rt. 2, Kingman; her father, Michael Bardos of Rt. 2, Kingman; two sons, Ryan and Adam at home; three brothers, Tony L Casey of Danville, Ill., David Bardos of Carmel and Mick Bardos of Rt. 2, Kingman; a sister Mrs. Richard (Myra) Rennick of Rt. 1, Covington; three nieces; and two nephews. smc Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home at Covington with Rev. Derald Ailes officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Tri-Kappa Sorority services are at 9 p.m. Monday. Memorials should be made to the Fred Hutchison Research Center or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
