Mrs. Amanda POWERS relict of the late David Powers died at Kokomo on Monday last at 1 o'clock. She accompanied her daughter, Mrs. CA Jay of Danville, Ill to Kokomo on a visit about six weeks ago. A few days after her arrival there she was stricken with paralysis of the brain and has been in a state of coma since that time until her death. Mrs. Powers' maiden name was Wilson. She was born at Madison, this state in Sept 1827 (note on the 5th died 11 April 1887) and at the time of her death was 60. A the age of 23 she was married to David Powers, the fruit of the union being 3 daughters, Julia wife of WT Brush of this city; Anna wife of CA Jay of Danville, Ill and Ella lately decease the wife of WE Brewer of Jamestown, Dakota. Her husband died in April 186? and six years later she removed to this city. The news of her death was quite a shock to her army of friends in this city. She was a zealous, earnest Christian worker and a member of the Methodist Church. Her remain!s were brought from Kokomo yesterday. The interment will be at Oak Hill today at 3 o'clock. Services will be conducted by Rev Alfred Kummer and Rev. J. W. Greene. - kbz
