Mrs. George Powers died Sunday morning at her home on Bluff Street after a long and serious illness. Several months ago, Mrs. Powers while preparing supper had a pot of boiling soup on a gasoline stove which sat on a low table. It was near dusk and Mrs. Powers, who was facing an outside window, thought she saw someone peering in and in her fright fell to the floor and the boiling soup was pulled over on her, her breast and arms being terribly burned. She never recovered from the effects of the burns and several other complications came up as a result, she finally suffering a stroke of paralysis. Mrs. Powers leaves a husband and 7 children to mourn her loss. The funeral will occur Wednesday afternoon at half past two in charge of Rev. JF Rake. - kbz
