New Ross, Aug. 25 William Powell, well known farmer of New Ross, died at his home here today at eleven o'clock. Death was caused by a complication of diseases. Mr. Powell, who had engaged in farming most of his life, passed away within a few miles of where he was born. He had spent all of his life in Montgomery and Boone counties. Mr. Powell was 83 years old and was the son of John and Elizabeth WELCH Powell. He was a member of a family of sixteen children and was identified with the New Ross Christian church. He was united in marriage sixty-two years ago to Sarah HARRIS and to this union three children were born. Surviving are one son, Jesse Powell of Buffalo, N. Y., a daughter, Mrs. Dolly Sparks of near Ladoga, three brothers, John I. Powell of New Ross, Messer of near Advance, and Elmer of near Crawfordsville. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at the home in New Ross Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial will be made at the Odd Fellows Cemetery.-- typed by kbz
