Mrs. Dorothy M. Powell, 64, died Wednesday (Oct. 31, 1973) in Small's Nursing Home at Waynetown. She had been a patient since March. Mrs. Powell had lived in Waynetown since 1937 and was a telephone operator with the Detchen Telephone Co. here. She was a member of the Mellott Christian Church and attended the Waynetown Christian Church. She was also a member of the Waynetown Rebekah Lodge 551. Mrs. Powell was educated in Mellott Schools. Born Dec. 31, 1908, at Wingate, she was the daughter of Everett and Matie E. Wilhite Harper. She was married Oct. 1, 1927, to Frank "Mick" Powell who survives. Other survivors include a son, Bob of Waynetown; a brother, John Harper of Crawfordsvilee; four sisters Mrs. Herman (Berniece) Allen, Mrs. Leon (Jessie) McManomy, Mrs. Virgil (Jean) Ballard, and Mrs. Robert (Arnetta) Cline, all of Crawfordsville; three grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; a great grandson and two aunts and an uncle. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Louise McConnell. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Servies-Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev. Guy E. Tremaine officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
