ROSSVILLE- Elva William (Bud) Potter, 68, of Rt. 2, Rossville, died suddenly about 4 a.m. Sunday at his home near here. Mr. Potter was a prominent farmer in this area for many years. He was a long time member of the Alvin Grade School and old Alvin High School boards. He was a past president of Alvin Detective Association and was a member of Vermillion County Detective Association. He was also a member of the Old Union Christian Church. Born March 11, 1895, near Danville, Ill., he was a son of William H. and Hattie Hoskins Potter. He was married Feb. 28, 1917 to Zella Humphreys of Wingate. They were married at Danville. Survivors include the widow, two sons, Glenn and Sam, both of near Rossville, a daughter Mrs. Howard Seyfert of Rossville, two sisters, Mrs. Maud Humphreys of Rt. 2 Danville and Mrs. Edna Ellingwood of Alamo and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. (CST) Wednesday at Alvin Memorial Park north of Danville. Friends may call at Lanham. Funeral Home here Tuesday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
