A telegram was received here on last Sunday morning for Robert Finch, announcing the death of EB Pierson, of Liberty, Ind. The news was not unexpected as Mr. Finch visited his nephew two months ago and found him in the last stage of consumption. Mr. Pierson was a grandson of William Cason of Mace and was well and favorably known to many of the citizens of Montgomery County. He was an upright and honest man, possessing a fine intellect and was a profound thinker. At one time he was a rare artist and great scientist. He was one of a party who sailed for South America about 14 years ago to explore the Transit of Venus. His works have been universallly admired and his name enrolled upon the honored pages of fame.- transcribed by kbz
